Hello All, I’m Jennifer. My company/blog is named after my great aunt. Gen was an independent, strong woman who loved travel and adventure. She could pack for a month in one suitcase. She always encouraged us to follow our dreams, so here I am. I’m a mom of three grown daughters. We believed in experiences over presents. We took rode trips every summer and over Christmas vacations. Yes, the packing gene was passed down to me and my girls. Hubby is very grateful, as neither of my sisters pack light.
We still live in the first house we bought 27 years ago. We taught our girls home improvement, car maintenance, how to cook and my favorite thing...crafting. We’ve have been redoing our home one room at a time, we’re on our second pass, this time just the two of us. Drywall, custom shelving, flooring, pavers we’ve done it all.
The adorable pups in my banner are Bella and Jax. They are my babies. They love cuddles, dressing up, and napping, but their favorite thing to do is puppy parties with their puppy cousins. Picture five medium size to large dogs and one small dog along with their puppy parents at one house for 3-6 hours. I’ll write about those adventures soon.
After the craziness of 3 girls in High school, one playing soccer, one playing softball all three in golf and choir and one in band, I though life would slow down. Boy was I wrong. I started a new job as they started college, I’m now an editorial coordinator for two pharmacological journals. Took me a month to be able to say that out loud. With this new job I now travel the world. Hubby and I could never have imagined being able to travel overseas. I can’t wait to write about our adventures.
In my free time I love to craft, sew, and design. In 2018 we DIYed our middle daughters Disney/Marvel wedding. Hundreds of paper roses, themed centerpieces, signs, and candy bar. Thank goodness for our Cricut! I even made her a six layer organza skirt w/ pockets and a rainbow petticoat with 86 feet of colored ruffles to wear at her reception. Currently we are working on decorations for our youngest daughters wedding shower with The Office theme. Again Cricut to the rescue.
Over Christmas I gave my oldest, self proclaim non crafty, daughter my Cricut Explorer One and taught her how to use it. Only took a few hours and now she’s trilled she can craft like her sisters. I did my first onesie station at my lil sister’s baby shower this summer and it was a hit. My brother in law now has the Cricut bug and is wanting to get one, I sent him a link to Jennifer Makers blog on which one to choose. He was so excited he thought it was me. I laughed. “What she got that you don’t?” “Bank!””You can do this!” He’s been encouraging me to start start a teaching blog, so here I am!
